FRAUKE KÜHN
Managing Director Literaturhaus Vorarlberg. Language enthusiast. Literature mediator.

Only humans tell stories to understand themselves and others. Frauke Kühn believes in the power of language and the impact of storytelling. As the director of the Vorarlberg Literature House, she conceives event- and project-designs that invite engagement with storytelling, writing, and language in various ways. Her audience includes professionals in the field, literature enthusiasts, and those who are just beginning to explore their own language and narratives. In 2020, she was awarded the grant prize by the International Lake Constance Conference for bold curation. In 2022, her project 'to be continued,' which brought European youth together into a unique writing collective, was nominated for the European State Prize.

The longing for a well-told story is in all of us.
— Frauke Kühn

Language touches and affects us at every age, in every moment of our lives, in every place in the world. It is our shortest bridge to each other, it is the door to reality, to new worlds and perspectives and ultimately always leads us to ourselves. Finding our own language, finding our own expression through a variety of inviting activities, listening to stories and talking about language means finding ways to tell stories about ourselves and rediscovering ourselves in the process. The Literaturhaus Vorarlberg will open its doors in the Villa Franziska and Iwan Rosenthal in spring 2025: For all people who want to discover language as such and themselves in language.

In the podcast of the Literaturhaus Vorarlberg, Radetzkystrasse 1, Frauke Kühn and Jenny Spiegel welcome authors or people who, at first glance, have nothing to do with literature every Friday. Together with them, they take a look behind the scenes of the literary landscape and also talk about the making of the Literaturhaus Vorarlberg.

Europe’s multilingualism is a feast to be celebrated!
