Four hectares of land in Hadres (Lower Austria) is where the "Land of the Goddesses" was created. In the year 2020, together with fellow artists, Elisabeth von Samsonow founded this eco-art project. In her work at the interface between archaeology, geology and art, Elisabeth von Samsonow concentrates on the visual codes encoded by erosion on the loess walls of Lower Austria. She paints these on large canvases in her studio. In doing so, Samsonow investigates how the death instinct, which according to Freud is directed towards an inorganic form of existence, can be reformulated. Samsonow celebrates the earth as a "hyper-subject". "Land of the Goddess" combines ecological and ecofeminist activism with artistic research.
